A small studio that ships fewer, better themes
ThemeStack is a two-person theme studio based in the United Kingdom. We build commercial themes for independent online shops, and we deliberately publish a handful of them a year rather than dozens.
The reason is maintenance. A theme is not a finished object; it is a piece of software that has to keep working as browsers change, as the platform changes, and as your catalogue grows. A studio with forty themes in its catalogue cannot maintain forty themes properly. We would rather have four we can stand behind.
How we work
Every theme starts with a specific kind of shop in mind. Kiln is for makers with strong photography. Ledger is for deep technical catalogues. Harbour is for consumables sold on a schedule. We do not build one theme and then re-skin it six times.
Each release ships against a written performance budget and an accessibility target of WCAG 2.2 AA. Both numbers go in the release notes. If a release misses its budget, we say so rather than quietly moving the goalposts.
We do not bundle review widgets, rewards programmes or page builders into our themes. Those are applications with their own release cycles, and folding them into a theme is the most common reason premium themes end up slow and fragile.
What we sell
You can buy a theme on its own with a single-store licence, or buy Founding Access, which is one payment covering every theme we publish in a twelve-month window. Everything is a one-time payment. Nothing renews automatically.
Full terms are on the licence page, and the frequently asked questions page covers the practical detail.
Getting in touch
We answer support email ourselves. There is no ticket queue and no chatbot in front of us, which means replies take up to two working days but arrive from someone who can actually read the code.
